A taste of Shakespeare

Alas poor Yorick,
I knew him well,
How long he’d been dead,
It was hard to tell,

A jester who died,
His jibes forgotten,
Tarlton his name,
Not mentioned often.

Elizabeth had,
His steely head,
Because he offended,
Or so it’s said.

Shakespeare did,
About the jester,
Who was always late.

Changed his name,
To suit the prose,
To Yorick his muse,
Or so it goes.

There did Hamlet,
Stand in his guise,
With a skull,
Now was that wise.

Alas, poor Yorick,
I knew him, Horatio,
To hear the rest,
Go see the show.
